On Sunday, Narendra Modi was sworn in as prime minister for an unprecedented third term, leading a 72-member Union Council of Ministers under the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.

Atul Keshap, President of the US India Business Council, highlighted the importance of Modi’s third term by stating, “Prime Minister Modi’s historic third term signifies political and economic stability and continuity amid rising global uncertainties.” He emphasized that the Indian electorate’s endorsement of pro-growth policies strengthens India’s role as a pillar of democracy, prosperity, and technological innovation, further solidifying its partnership with the United States.

Ronak D. Desai, a partner and prominent India practitioner at the Paul Hastings law firm, shared similar views. He noted that Modi’s third term ensures ongoing strength in the US-India relationship, indicating that bilateral ties will remain robust. “The partnership between the two nations spans almost every conceivable area of cooperation, reflecting a deep commitment to mutual growth and prosperity,” Desai commented.

Desai also emphasized that the US-India relationship, built through years of dedicated effort, will continue to grow. He pointed out that strong bipartisan support in both countries guarantees the resilience of this relationship, regardless of political changes in Washington or New Delhi. “Under Modi 3.0, the US-India partnership will continue its impressive trajectory. The bipartisan consensus ensures its growth, driven by the deep alignment of interests and values in both nations,” he added.

The Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS) expressed optimism about India’s future under Modi’s third term. They anticipate that India will become the third-largest economy and a significant global power, leading both the global east and global south. Khanderao Kand, President and chief of policies and strategy at FIIDS, stated, “We look forward to the continuation of infrastructural initiatives like Make In India, Digital India, Startup India, Clean India, Sagarmala, Roadways, and efforts to bring electricity and development to the last tribal village, lifting the entire Indian population out of poverty.”
